Hey all, I lived at G.J.R. from 1981-1983.First at Caretakers then at Terry House.
Like many, I'm sure, I look back at that time as painful as well as having many great memories.
Being at G.J.R. was in a way a salvation for me. It got me away from some awful circumstances. I admit I have not thought about my time there in a long, long time. However, I have been in contact with a few people recently and have been on this site. It has made me realize how many good times I did have and how much the G.J.R. was and still is a part of my life! I remember meeting some pretty great people there. Staff as well as students.
Life has been pretty good to me and I am fortunate to have fantastic people in it. Most notably my husband and children.
That is not to say it has all been easy. There are many times I struggle with the memories of my upbringing and the pain it caused. I feel fortunate to have been "rescued" from the situation although I did not feel very fortunate at the time. Ah, the wisdom of growing older. If I only knew then what I know now!
Many thanks to Lynn for starting this website.
{~Thank you, Paula, for coming....~}
Take care all,
Paula
