These pages are for those people who were students at The George Junior Republic, (mainly the one which was located in Freeville, New York.) If you do not understand that statement you may want to hit your browser's back button (or go to the LAC link at top)to get back to the other sections which list the artists we have within our site.
These pages were originally made after 9/11 to reach out to our friends who were from the New York City area who would hopefully come looking for their old alumni and friends again. We have spent much time since then reconnecting with those we knew and even had a reunion in July of 2005 back on the grounds of the George Junior Republic. There have also been mini reunions in sections of the United States where groups have gathered to have fun with those who were willing and able to travel, in upstate New York, downstate New York and even Las Vegas.
If you have found your way here by doing a search for the Republic there are many different things you can look at regarding the old days that are on the Internet made by ex-citizens. There are quite a few sites made by ex-citizens that connect to other sites and pages also made by ex-citizens, and there are also group sites made that can be joined where you can find old friends and maybe find some new ones.
A new site was made called GJRAlumni.com You do need to apply to join but this is done mainly to keep "dummy" accounts from being made, and to ensure that all of the people on there are from the old Republic. On this site are Found Pages in alphabetical order which list all of the former citizens and Staff members who found their way to the Internet or who were found while the reunion at the Republic was being planned. You are bound to find someone whom you recognise. The years of attendance of the people who are listed are from the early 60's to the 80's and 90's. As of June 3rd, 2006 there are 420 ex-citizens and 63 staff listed.
There is also an archival site that was left up, at "http://groups.msn.com/GeorgeJuniorRepublic/" where we used to meet and was in operation for about 2 years. In these archives there are thousands of old postings from ex-citizens, pictures, and writings. This is not used anymore to post new items but maintained for people to browse if they wish. You do not have to join or be a member to browse the site.
If you would like to view some early entires of ex-citizens who found their way here and submitted hellos to this site they are listed further down this page in a table. There are also more links to sites listed toward the bottom.
There are links at the bottom of this page to old photos added 1/27/02, see if you remember any of the people...if you are one of the people who happens to be in one of the photo's and you would like me to remove it please let me know by contacted me on Facebook here : Lynn Stetler-Day (Best)
GJRAlumni.com This is now where we try to get everyone together and listed. As opposed to say "other sites" who may make you pay to be a member. No one will get your e-mail address or any information unless you want them to. Your information is maintained by one person in a database. There are "found lists" however that list at least 400 people who have found our sites and have been listed.
"George Junior Republic"Any year attending. This is now an archival site. There are message postings from alumni who were members for about 2 years, while we were waiting for the 2005 reunion.
